THE ASSOCIATION OF MOROCCANS IN ARIZONA (AMAZ)
By Mohammed Fennich

The Association of Moroccans in Arizona (AMAZ) is going through its embryonic stages but all of its members are well energized and exited about the opportunities and the challenges ahead. The photo shows some of AMAZ’S active members after one of their first meetings at the Scottsdale Civic Center Library in October 2007. AMAZ elected a governing body in the month of December and started activities in January 2008.

In light of the sisterhood program between Scottsdale and Marrakech, AMAZ plans to continue and strengthen its collaboration with the Scottsdale Sister Cities Association. Cooperation between the two associations is expected in different areas such as tourism, education, cultural exchanges and charity work. A number of Moroccans living throughout the valley are active SSCA members and will serve as liaisons between AMAZ and SSCA.
